Microtomes

Rankin supplies both new and professionally refurbished microtomes, reconditioned back to OEM specification. We reset the lifespan of used microtomes through a rigorous remanufacturing process by trained biomedical technicians.

Microtomes are used in histology labs to section tissue samples with a razor blade, typically 5-8 micrometers thick, for examination under a microscope. The samples that are cut on a microtome are formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples. Microtomes are utilized for the diagnosis of cancer or other pathologies within anatomic pathology.
