Tissue Float Baths

Tissue float baths are heated dishes that hold water for microtomy in the histology lab. After sectioning a ribbon on a microtome, the ribbon of sectioned tissue gets laid flat in the warm water in a float bath, also known as a water bath. The tissue is then retrieved from the float bath by the histotechnician with a microscope slide, is air dried or heat dried, and then proceeds to the staining protocol.
