Leica CM1850 Cryostat
The Leica CM1850 Cryostat is a powerful cryostat for routine as well as research applications in biology, medicine, and industry. The instrument has been designed for rapid freezing and sectioning of tissue samples.
The operating temperature range (ambient temperature) is 18 to 40 degrees C. The temperature setting range is 0 degrees to -35 degrees C. The Leica CM1850 Cryostat has an actively cooled (-45°C) specimen quick freezing shelf with space for the storage of 10 specimen disks. The Leica CM1850 Cryostat features optional Peltier cooling to quick freeze specimens down to -60°C.
The Leica 2020-C stainless steel microtome with 2-speed motorized coarse feed moves specimen toward or away from knife quickly. The Leica CM1850 Cryostat offers slower forward speed used in conjunction with a rocking motion of the handwheel to permit the operator to quickly trim away excess OCT and achieve full face of the specimen.
Section thickness settings from 1 to 60um, specimen feed 25mm, vertical stroke 59mm, maximum specimen size 55 x 55mm, specimen orientation 8 degrees, electric coarse feed in slow mode is 0.2mm/s and 0.7mm/s in rapid mode..
The Leica CM1850 Cryostat features a built-in enclosed drain system that reduces the chance of aerosolization of infectious agents. The Leica CM1850 Cryostat has a precision crafted spindle feed and roller bearing slide for precise sectioning qualities and includes an easily removable microtome for quick cleaning to minimize risk of infection. The Leica CM1850 Cryostat is self-diagnosing, with single board microprocessor electronics. It is a virtually maintenance free operation and is ergonomically designed to be used in both standing and sitting positions.
The knife holders CN and CS are equipped with knife guards; on the knife holder CE the glass plate of the anti-roll guide constitutes the knife guard.
It is not necessary to remove the microtome for routine disinfecting of the cryochamber. The instrument is appropriate for spray disinfection with Leica Cryofect.
All specifications related to temperature are valid only up to an ambient temperature of 22 degrees C and an air humidity lower than 60%.
